Acadia Healthcare calls itself the largest stand-alone behavioral healthcare company in the U.S. Its latest company profile, dated June 30, 2026, backs that up with a few big numbers: 279 facilities, about 12,600 beds, roughly 25,000 employees and more than 84,000 patients a day.

Reeve B. Waud founded the business as a private corporation in 2005 and took it public in 2011. He still chairs it. Here’s a look at the company in figures, from beds to earnings surprises.

Footprint

279 facilities in 40 states and Puerto Rico. That count covers inpatient psychiatric hospitals, specialty treatment facilities, residential treatment centers and outpatient clinics. At the end of 2025, Acadia reported 277 facilities and more than 12,500 beds.

240 beds in one quarter. Two joint venture hospitals opened between April and June: 144 beds in Florida and 96 in Iowa. Zacks expects the company to add 500 to 600 beds over the full year.

16 beds in Chantilly, Virginia. The Northern Virginia Adolescent Treatment Center opened in March as a secure residential program for teens.

Money

$865.8 million in second-quarter revenue. Acute inpatient care brought in $494.6 million of it.

$3.40 billion to $3.45 billion in expected 2026 revenue, plus $350 million to $400 million in operating cash flow.

100% share price gain for the year as of September 22, per Zacks. The S&P 500 was up 13.2%.

47% average earnings surprise across the past four quarters, all of which beat estimates.

$1.55 a share: Zacks’ consensus 2026 earnings estimate, after four upward revisions in 60 days.

$162.1 million in second-quarter operating cash flow, up from $133.5 million a year earlier. Capital spending fell to $38.6 million from $167.7 million.

5.5% growth in acute inpatient volume during the second quarter.

Quality and Leadership

8 centers on Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Best Residential Addiction Treatment Centers. Two ranked first in their states.

1 first-ever Joint Commission Care Team Award, won in October by Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast, a joint venture hospital in Moosic, Pennsylvania.

2 terms as CEO for Debbie Osteen, who came back in January after leading Acadia from 2018 to 2022.

2011: the year Acadia went public, six years after Reeve B. Waud founded it.

500+ investments at Waud Capital Partners, the firm Reeve B. Waud has run since 1993.

The next set of figures from Reeve B. Waud’s company is due November 4, with third-quarter results. The facility and bed counts in that release will show how much of the 2026 build-out is finished.
